First, the quality/construction of the book is disappointing - the binding is poorly constructed. Simply not acceptable in a cookbook.Now, this is strictly subjective but... I don't really care for the book. First, it's UK/US, which means all the measurements are listed in two sets of units. I just find that distracting (again, that's really subjective). Second, there are hardly any recipes that sound good. Third, many of them use a slow cooker but not to slow cook all day.
One of the beauties - to me - of slow cooking is the "brown stuff the night before, put it in the fridge, then put it on in the morning and go to work." If something needs to cook for just 4 hours, it's going to be nasty when I get home. A lot of the recipes are like that so it really turned me off.
I would not purchase this book again.

The cookbook is large and very heavy but I like the recipes and pictures. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet but I am looking forward to doing so.
I picked this up on the bargain shelf at Borders for five bucks and can't imagine more satisfaction from a sawbuck. I've got dozens of recipes tabbed, and I made a point to try new recipes once or twice a month for several months in a row. I still have several to try still, and that might put a dent in the recipes included in the text. There are some recipes that me and my roommate marked 10/10, while several others rated 7-8 of 10. One particularly great recipe was the Citrus Beef Curry. My roommate and I had the same reaction when we tried it, and it was tens across the board. Because of this cookbook, I've been able to try new spices and herbs, and gained a new perspective on how to mix flavors.
This is something I definitely appreciated as a college student. For five bucks, It's a great way to make great tasting meals on a budget once you get the spice rack in order.
I use it almost every day, plus it helps with the grocery shopping list. haven't had a bad meal yet.
I bought this as a gift. It's a large and heavy hardbound book. Was disappointed inside the front cover was not manufactured well. It looks like it will be too big a pain to return so I am very frustrated. I know the cover will come off after a short time of even the most gentle care.
